A burn is more than skin deep
At the Foundation we are dedicated to supporting patients and carers at every stage of recovery—providing the care, knowledge and resources needed to heal, rebuild, and thrive.

More Than Skin Deep (MTSD)
This self-paced online learning program is designed to support children and young people who have experienced burn injuries, with a strong focus on psychological wellbeing and overall health.
Built on research showing that strong family relationships and emotional support lead to better long-term recovery outcomes, MTSD takes a holistic approach to burn care. It equips parents, carers and support networks with practical knowledge, tools and confidence to support both the physical and psychosocial needs of a child after a burn injury—helping improve recovery at every level.

Helping You and Your Child
Developed through the collaborative efforts of the Fiona Wood Foundation, RAINE Medical Research Foundation, and the Stan Perron Centre of Excellence in Childhood Burns, the series ‘Helping you and your child’ comprises of four short, animated videos and factsheets.
Burn injuries affect the whole family. These animations are designed to support open conversations between parents, caregivers, and children, helping them understand the complexities of burn injuries and navigate the emotional challenges that follow.

Culturally Safe Transfer
We recognise that for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, leaving Country to access burn care can be both challenging and deeply significant, with important cultural and safety considerations. These resources have been developed to support people preparing to transfer to a burn unit in Perth, helping to provide information and reassurance during this journey.
