Ember to Empower

The Fiona Wood Foundation, in partnership with Queensland University of Technology and the Australian Health Services Innovation Alliance, is inviting healthcare professionals to contribute to Ember to Empower—a national research project to co-design a burn recovery toolkit.
For many burn survivors and their families, navigating support, resources, and follow-up care after leaving hospital can be challenging. This has been identified as a key priority by the burn community.
The Ember to Empower study will bring together burn survivors aged 12 and over, parents and caregivers of younger patients, and healthcare professionals to co-design a practical recovery toolkit. The goal is to create a single, accessible resource that supports people as they adjust to life after a burn.
Healthcare professionals play a vital role in recovery, and your insights will help ensure the toolkit is relevant, accessible, and aligned with the real needs of patients and families. We are seeking expressions of interest from clinicians across disciplines, including those working with paediatric and adolescent burn patients.
Participants will be invited to take part in surveys and co-design activities.
